This ensures we can provide the best possible outcome for the patient and highest level of service to both you and your patients. To make the referral process as straightforward and easy for you to use we would appreciate it if you could read and complete the ‘preferences’ section below. By spending a few minutes completing your general preferences now it saves this being included on every individual referral and prevents delays where we would usually write to you and ask you before proceeding with the patient.
Sometimes there are stages required as part of the referred treatment plan which referring dentists would prefer to be returned to them to complete themselves. Please indicate below which stages of the referred treatment plan you would wish to be returned for you. If you have any patients which differ from these preferences, please indicate this on your referral form so that we know of the exception and what you wish to be involved in for that patient.
We understand that the referral process can be time consuming, but we want to make it as easy as possible. Often patients do not understand the transfer of responsibility involved and just regard it as any other consumer choice. Our default position would be only to discuss the treatment on the referral (except where other treatment is essential for the referral) but sometimes the patient finds this frustrating. If we know in advance your preferences in relation to other treatment provision, we can improve the experience for the patient and cut down on correspondence by only discussing or offering treatment that you have agreed in advance. Should you wish to change your preferences at any time then let us know. If you then wish to change preferences just for a particular patient, then this can be noted on the referral.
